journey with a Himba family

Ten years ago I was doing a story on a proposed dam on the Kunene River which forms the natural border between Namibia and Angola. The story centered around how this will have an impact on the people who live in the area - the semi nomadic Himba. After permission was granted by chief Tjihoto, a writer and me lived with a family for 5 weeks.

We wanted to try and get to know and get a glimpse into the lives of the Himba. I fell completely in love with the family and I've been working ever since then, over a 10year period, with permission and in consultation with the family, on a black and white documentation of personal stories and portraits of the individuals.
